Textile Exchange has launched a new initiative “Organic Cotton Accelerator” with retailers like H&M, C&A and Eileen Fisher, aimed at improving the organic cotton supply-demand deficit. Textile Exchange, the US based non-profit organization committed towards the responsible expansion of textile sustainability across the global textile value chain, in a recently published report pointed out that the global organic cotton production has dropped by 50 per cent. In order to meet the organic cotton demand for 2020, the report suggests that production will need to grow five times. The OCA will work with “the entire supply chain” in order “to find and fund innovative ways to ensure the supply of organic cotton.”
