A study carried out by GIZ — headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German development agency that provides services in the field of international education work and international development cooperation— has maintained that Bangladesh has a significant opportunity to expand its hold on the global technical textile and PPE (personal protective equipment) markets once manufacturers here are able to find reliable raw material sources and upgrade their operations.
Reports maintained this adding the study titled ‘Feasibility Study on Upscaling the Production of TT/PPE in Bangladesh’ was carried out by GIZ with help from the BGMEA, which stated the global technical textile market is projected to grow from US $ 179.2 billion in 2020 to US $ 224.4 billion by 2025 with an annual average growth rate of about 4.2 per cent even as the global PPE market is projected to pass US $ 93 billion by the end of 2025.
The study further, reportedly, added most Bangladesh apparel manufacturers tend to be medium-sized companies even as large groups are not known by international procurement agencies for technical textile products while also adding the potential of technical textiles and its PPE sub-sector will inevitably hinge on Bangladesh’s well-established reputation as a leading supplier of apparel made from traditional textiles.
