
Dr. A. Sakthivel, President of Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has welcomed Tamil Nadu’s revised Budget for the fiscal year 2016-17 which was presented recently in the State Assembly by Thiru O. Panneerselvam, Minister of Finance.
In the Budget, the Government has proposed to train two lakh youth for skill development under Tamil Nadu Skill Development Mission and allocation of a sum of Rs. 150 crore for the same, noting that it is the need of the hour for industries to enhance productivity as well as quality. Besides this, Maternal and Child Health wings will also be set up in Tirupur at a cost of Rs. 20 crore under the National Health Mission, to make primary healthcare facilities accessible to the region.

TEA Chief not only hailed the Government’s Tax Free Budget but was also glad about approval for laying of four lane road between Tirupur and Oddanchatram which will help smoothen transition of vehicles and also reduce the time to reach Tuticorin Port, majorly used by Tirupur garment exporters.
Furthermore, Sakthivel appreciated the continuance of extending 25 per cent capital subsidy up to Rs. 30 Lakh, besides extending interest subvention benefit of 3 per cent to MSMEs which will entice budding entrepreneurs. He also congratulated Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for the better state performance in achieving Gross State Domestic Product growth rate in 2015-16; estimated at 8.79 per cent.
