Rohit Kansal, senior IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, now part of AGMUT, has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles (MoT). An order to this effect was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
A 1995 batch IAS officer, Rohit has held key positions in the Jammu and Kashmir administration including Deputy Commissioner of several districts, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir and Secretary in different departments.
He was recently holding the office of Principal Secretary in the Higher Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government and also the department of Information and Public Relations.
Rohit holds a management graduate degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Thapar University of Punjab, India.
He is a fellow of the Third Generation of Ananta Aspen’s Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship and member of Aspen Global Leadership Network.
He has been an Emerging Leaders Fellow of the Australia-India Institute at the University of Melbourne, Australia as well as a fellow at the London School of Economics, London.
His case studies on administrative and strategic issues have been published by the National Civil Service Academy, LBSNAA where he also had the distinction of being judged the Best All Round Officer Trainee.
