- Follows successful implementation in Bihar last year; Centre offered placements to first batch of students in March 2013
Raymond Ltd recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rajasthan Industries Department towards setting up of the innovative Raymond Tailoring Centres in Jaipur and Jodhpur, with the support of Rajasthan Skill & Livelihood Corporation. “The Raymond Tailoring Centre will help the tailoring community in Rajasthan to acquire professional skills, thus encouraging the youth of the State to find value in pursuing tailoring,” said Aniruddha P. Deshmukh, President Textiles & Retail, Raymond Ltd., after the signing.
India’s and Raymond’s first Tailoring Centre was launched in May last year at Patna, Bihar and the response to this Centre was overwhelming. The success has also been encouraging in that all the students of the first batch have been offered placements. “Considering technological advancements in the sector, The Raymond Tailoring Centre module includes training candidates on the latest modern machinery and use of best tailoring practices, all at no financial expense to students. Special focus will be given to encourage women to pursue our programs through reservations for them. We are proud to have the support of the government of Rajasthan for this unique and innovative initiative,” added Ram Bhatnagar, Vice President-Emerging Businesses, Raymond Limited.
To be set up in BaisGodown Industrial Area, Jaipur and near the Rotary Circle, Jodhpur, the Raymond Tailoring Centres will impart tailoring skills to underprivileged youth and tailors. This is an ideal example of Public-Private-Partnership as Raymond will provide state-of-the-art machinery and trainers for the centres while infrastructure will be provided by the Industries Department and Rajasthan State Livelihood Development Corporation.
