Supplementing the ‘Make in India’ campaign, the Indian Commerce Ministry is reportedly working on an incentive provision for the export of ethnic Indian apparels through e-commerce under its upcoming foreign trade policy. Having recognized the growing share of e-commerce in international trade, the ministry is now discussing the nature of incentives to be provided. Due to the low volumes these items are traded as samples and hence not accounted for, in the regular export data. The incentive provision will ensure that the exporters on e-commerce platform enjoy export benefits like a commercial exporter and improve their market competitiveness.
