
Taiwan has pledged to provide complete support and cooperation to Myanmar in building capacity and providing technical assistance, especially in the textile sector.
This was announced by Myo Thet, Vice President, Union of Myanmar Federation of Commerce and Industry on 24 July at the Taiwan-Myanmar Industrial Collaboration Summit.
An MoU was signed between the industry trade groups of both the countries at the summit with the focus on building trade relations.
Myo Thet said that Taiwan’s expertise in advanced technology would help Myanmar to significantly increase its manufacturing capacity in garment and textile industry.
There are also plans of conducting lot of training programmes in an effort to strengthen the cooperation between Taiwan and Myanmar.
Emphasising on the relevance of training, Myint Soe, Chairman, Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association, reasoned that the garment industries in Myanmar could reap rich benefits from the training programmes planned for garment workers, supervisors as well as technical staff.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar, the trade volume between both the countries has increased five-fold in last 3 years.
