
Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab recently announced a multi-skill development centre in Ludhiana which will offer three-month courses for textile and apparel industry. Set to be functional by April 2015, the ‘Knitwear Facility’, managed and run by Punjab State Hosiery and Knitwear Development Corporation, is being refurbished for accommodating the training centre. The complete capital cost of the project will be borne by the State Government, said the Chief Minister. Worth Rs. 14.8 crore, the training centre will train 2,000 individuals. The Government needs to impart skills to over 2,700,000 individuals, as stated in the 12th year plan.
