In Madhya Pradesh (MP), the State Government is on its toes for the recently launched PM Mitra Textile Park in Bhensola village as the infrastructure development work is expected to start soon. Tribals of Badnawar tehsil and other areas of Dhar district have launched protest against the site chosen for this Park in Bhensola village.
Tenders have been floated for water, electricity and leveling the ground at the site and work is expected to start by June or July. The work of the planning and layout of the park has also started.
PM MITRA Park is proposed on around 1,563 acres at Bhainsola village in Dhar district and as per the State Government’s Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) it has received 20 investment proposals amounting to Rs. 6,842 crore so far for the park and investment proposals of Rs. 8,675 have come from textile and related industries for other areas in the state.
On the other hand, Tribals of Badnawar tehsil and other areas of Dhar district have launched protests against the site chosen for PM Mitra Textile Park in Bhensola village.
Under the banner of Zameen Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, social activists staged a demonstration in Badnawar. They also handed over a memorandum to the local administration in this regard.
As per media reports, the memorandum says that 1,563 acres were selected for PM Mitra Textiles Park. At present, 10 villages would be affected by it. Houses for more than 1000 people have been built in these villages. They are living on vacant land and farming for years and this land is the only means of livelihood for these families.
No plan was made for the homeless poor. The tribals were being played with by the government, they alleged. So far whatever industries are there in these areas, locals hardly get any jobs in the same.
