In January 2014, Japan imported 86.616 billion yen of textile yarn and fabric, registering a sharp increase of 35.8% year-on-year, according to the trade statistics released by the Ministry of Finance. Japan’s textile yarn and fabric imports from Asia surged up by 39.4% year-on-year to 77.959 billion yen, during the month. Of this, China accounted for 50.984 billion yen, while the ASEAN countries contributed 15.419 billion yen, and the Middle East region 383 million yen.
