Even as Bangladesh is getting ready to make the transition from the league of least developed countries (LDC), which will come with its own set of challenges for the country, Japan has come up to support the former in terms of improving trade performance and diversify product offerings so as to help Bangladesh make a smooth LDC transition.
This is as per reports, which underlined both countries signed the ‘Bangladesh-Japan Industrial Upgrading Partnership Cooperation’ to this end recently, with the objective to establish a framework to jointly explore the possibilities of upgrading Bangladesh’s industries through promoting cooperation at both private and Government levels even as Bangladesh is all set to make the LDC transition in 2026 and move ahead towards achieving the vision of a developed nation by 2041.
It may be mentioned here Japan and Bangladesh have signed 8 memorandums for cooperation including in agriculture, industries, transport, defence and tech transfer recently even as Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on a tour of Japan currently.
