Innerwear, and especially undergarments, is a product category doing very well in Tirupur, be it from a big company or a small emerging firm. Celebrating its Golden Jubilee in 2017, one of the well-known export houses of Tirupur, Jupiter Knitting Company recently added 100 more machines to enhance its capacity for ‘briefs’ manufacturing. Now the company has a total of 1,100 machines. T. Devendiran, GM – Briefs told Apparel Online, “We are exporting most of our production to Europe and have good orders for the next few months. With enhanced capacity we are expecting at least 20 per cent growth this year. We are focusing more on PD and IT intervention like ERP, so we should grow.”
On the other hand, 6 months old, Kotan Apparels, Tirupur just entered into innerwear (vest and briefs) export. Having experience of more than 20 years in textile industry, C. Abdul Salam, MD of the company shipped its recent orders to Saudi Arabia and is now exploring other markets also. “Earlier we were doing business at small scale and with the new company we entered into export. As it is our initial stage, we are outsourcing stitching process, if things remains in our favour we will start our own manufacturing next year,” informed Abdul. It is also targeting domestic market with its brand ZYOKE.
