Indian textile exports saw a growth in October of 11.56 per cent as compared to October 2023, while the exports of apparel saw a growth of 35.06 per cent for the same period, says a report from the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI).
“We are encouraged by these developments, as they underscore the resilience and competitiveness of India’s textile and apparel industry on the global stage,” said CITI in a release.
Compared to October 2023, cumulative exports of textiles and apparel increased by 19.93 per cent in October 2024, going from US $ 2552.63 million in October 2023 to US $ 3,061.39 million in October 2024. Indian textile exports increased by 4.01 per cent between April and October of 2024, whereas apparel exports had an increase of 11.60 per cent over the same period last year. The total exports of textiles and apparel from April to October of this year increased by 7.08 per cent over April to October of last year, going from US $ 19,351.56 million in 2023 to US $ 20,721 million in 2024.
Chairman of AEPC Sudhir Sekhri commented on the ongoing growth in RMG exports, saying, “We have been producing both traditional and modern design products with success by utilising India’s strength in raw materials. Our continuous efforts to be cost-effective and environmentally friendly have resulted in a significant increase in exports in recent months, which is highly desirable to international buyers.”
