The garment industry of Indore is hopeful for a promising festive season ahead due to increased inquiries and advance orders from players outside the region.
With a surge in inquiries primarily from the southern states of the country, the garment industry is anticipating a growth of over 10 per cent in festival-related business, including Rakshabandhan.
According to industry players, readymade garment players and cloth traders have initiated the purchase of cloths, although a significant increase in purchases is expected from mid-August onwards.
Rajpal Agrawal, a readymade garment manufacturer from Indore, expressed his thoughts, saying, “As the season approaches, preparations have commenced, including responding to inquiries and monitoring fabric purchases. We are optimistic about experiencing a more prosperous season this time, especially considering the increased interest shown by buyers.”
Kailash Mungad, Secretary of the Maharaja Tukojirao Cloth Market Merchants Association, commented, “The previous months have been challenging for our sector, but we are now hopeful for improved sales. Full-fledged sales are expected to commence from August, and we have already begun receiving inquiries from players outside the region.”
The association reports that the approximate annual cloth sales in Indore reach around Rs. 800-1000 crores.
