Applauding Bangladesh for the extraordinary social and economic development in recent years in its recently published report, the Foreign Trade Association (FTA) – a leading business association of European and international commerce that promotes the values of free trade and sustainable supply chains – has also pointed out challenges that country needs to address for a brighter future. It cites inputs from the European Commission, World Bank and IMF pointing out that RMG industry is a vital force for development in Bangladesh, which was not only world’s number two garment exporter after China (exporting garments worth US $ 24.5 billion in 2014) besides being a significant contributor to employment and economic growth of the country.
