The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) is advocating for increased participation of small and medium-sized businesses at international export exhibitions.
This initiative aims to spotlight Bangladesh’s promising products on the global market.
During the inaugural meeting of the organisation’s Standing Committee on National and International Trade Fairs and Foreign Delegations Day, FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam issued the directive. He underlined how important it is to give marginalised, small, and medium-sized businesses the room and equipment they need to showcase their goods at these gatherings.
“The participation of marginal, small and medium enterprises is crucial at both national and international levels,” Mahbubul Alam said. “This will allow us to export Bangladesh’s promising products and open new markets.”
The president of the FBCCI stated that to make this a reality, his organisation is actively talking with and working with the government. He also suggested setting up roadshows across Europe and the adjacent nations to boost export prospects and revitalise the nation’s handicraft sector.
Chairman of the Standing Committee Nuruzzaman supported Mahbubul Alam’s remarks, emphasising the youthful population and enormous potential of Bangladesh. “We need to move beyond the garment sector and focus on product diversification and market creation,” Nuruzzaman stated.
Achieving this, he acknowledged, will require close collaboration with the Export Promotion Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority.
Senior Vice President of the FBCCI, Md. Amin Helaly, promised the organization’s assistance in promoting more exports by attending international trade shows. Nonetheless, he emphasised how critical it is to educate Bangladeshis about the wide range of exciting items that their nation has to offer.
During the open debate that followed the meeting, many voiced a strong desire to organise and take part in several sectoral fairs under the auspices of the FBCCI, both locally and abroad.
