During its recent visit to Pakistan, a European Union (EU) delegation has expressed concern over the quality of implementation of 27 United Nations conventions by Pakistan in return of Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) plus status granted to the country. The delegation is now in contact with the Pakistani Government for further discussions. The delegation, comprising EU Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark and others, also met the members of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and expressed satisfaction over the compliance initiatives taken by APTMA. The association is claimed to having undertaken a number of initiatives, including setting up of a sustainable production centre for energy efficiency, renewable energy and environment, besides ensuring high level of corporate social responsibility and water conservation, to keep the textile industry at par with global standards and expectations.
