
The Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB) and the Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association have on 23rd October (Sunday) increased the dollar exchange rate ceiling for encasing export bills to Taka 99.5 while reducing the rate for remitters to Taka 107 even if the revised rate was declared after a meeting with ABB leaders at the head office of Sonali Bank Limited.
This was underlined in media reports which added as per BAFEDA Chairman Afjal Karim, the bankers have made the decision in accordance with the market demand and supply even if the rate for export bill encashment will be implemented from 23rd October while the rate for remittance would be effective from 1st November, reportedly claimed the BAFEDA Chairman.
It may be mentioned here that earlier on 11th September, BAFEDA and the ABB decided to set dollar exchange rate ceiling for remittance at Taka 108 and for encashing export bills at Taka 99 while on 26th September, both the associations reduced the dollar exchange rate for collecting remittance by Taka 0.5 to maximum Taka 107.5 a dollar.
