On behalf of the business community, the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) is calling for swift action to restore peace and order in Dhaka and throughout the country.
It also recommended the legal establishment and declaration of an interim administration to contain the existing state of law and order as well as economic harm.
“We request all concerned to take necessary measures to this end,” the DCCI said in a statement.
Following recent political instability and challenges, the Dhaka Chamber emphasised the urgent need for peace and order to be restored as soon as possible, and it requested that all required steps be taken to restore normal economic activity. Noting that nationwide economic operations have been considerably impeded, the DCCI stated that immediate actions are required to restore peace and order and recover from the tremendous damage.
“The recent anarchy has taken a huge toll on our lives and economy, disrupting living and economic conditions. Unless measures are effective, supply chain disruptions will cause further damage to public suffering,” reads the statement.
Dhaka Chamber also stated its resolve to collaborate closely with all key parties, including the next interim administration and others, to end the current stalemate and bring the nation’s much-needed prosperity.
