Cotton Concept, which already has three production units and specializes in knitted garments and catering mainly to medium and high-end European buyers, is adding a new production unit which would be operational by October this year adding 30% into existing production capacity of the company.
Currently the company is producing 1,50,000 pieces per month of high fashion garments with extensive value additions like hand embroideries, sequins and beadwork, computer embroideries and printing. In basic garments, the company has a capacity to manufacture 2,50,000 pieces per month.
Sharing his expansion plans with Apparel Online, Jitesh Lakhwani, the generation next in the business says, “This expansion is in the wake of the increased business from our existing client base and also we have entered into the US market this year. By next year we are hopeful at doing at least 15% of our turnover from this market.”
As the company is increasing its stitching capacity by approximately 1,00,000 pieces per month, accordingly it will add the sewing machines. “We will also be adding multi-head computer embroidery machines, the regular setup of steam pressing, dry cleaning, etc. in the new unit for which the total investment would be around Rs. 5 crore, leaving aside the land and building cost,” adds Jitesh.
Keeping its focus on continuous R&D in design and finishes, Jitesh shared that his father Ashok Lakhwani takes special interest in the area of new developments. “My father introduced stone wash and sand wash on silk along with various enzyme washes and innovative tie&dye techniques,” he said.
