Cotton imports in China touched an all-time low mark in September with just 50,900 tonnes of imports, showing a plunge of 59% YOY, website CNCotton reports. The data from the China Cotton Association states that Chinese imports for the first nine months of the year fell 42% to 1.16 million tonnes. Huge domestic stocks, weaker industrial sector, and competition from synthetic fibres, has been touted as the major reasons for the weak demand of cotton from foreign nations. The US Department of Agriculture forecasts Chinese cotton imports diving to a 13-year low over the 2015-16 season.
