
Md. Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Chittagong-based Pacific Jeans Limited, which is one of the largest denim exporters of Bangladesh, passed away today (28 February) in Bangkok.
In a mail sent to Apparel Resources, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan, shared the information of sad demise of the Chairman of Pacific Jeans at a hospital in Bangkok.
“We are grieved by the sad demise of one of the pioneers in our industry, a person who was dear to all of us, our mentor, an icon of vision, innovation and changes, a loved and respected personality, the Chairman of Pacific Jeans Mr. Md. Nasir Uddin,” underlined the BGMEA President in his mail, while adding Md. Nasir Uddin has been suffering from acute illness for quite some time.
It may be mentioned here, set up in Chittagong Export Processing Zone in 1996 by Md. Nasir Uddin, Pacific Jeans produces around 40 million pieces of jeans a year, exporting to over 50 countries even if the Group, reportedly, boasts of an annual turnover of US $ 400 million.
