Anika Passi, General Manager of the company told Apparel Resources. “Being a Swedish company, we lay a very big emphasis on gender diversity. Women’s Day is an annual reminder of our policy which we truly value. As a brand we source a lot of textiles and handicraft items, which involve women workers to a very large extent. It is our earnest wish that the industry and government/various departments at large adopt more women-friendly policies and create conducive, safe working environment for women,” she said.
Delhi-based buying house TaurusTex also expressed their respect towards their women team members by honouring them for their work, commitment & dedication for contribution to office work, community, society at large. “We consider all days to be equal and important. Women form the backbone of our industry. We should encourage them to take up challenging assignments that involves travelling (like Marketing, Sourcing, Purchasing), Production (in South India, it was a delight to watch women working on knitting machines as technicians & production managers), Commercial Assignments, Security, etc. This will contribute towards creating a safer and better environment for all of us,” said Arvind Arora, CEO of the company. Many companies in South India like Unisource Trend India, Golden Seams Industries etc, where women are in plenty, are also arranging such kinds of events.
