Faruque Hassan, president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), and Pinar van der Vegt, Head of Sales, and Mike Hennessy, business development manager, Sourcing at Magic, met to discuss potential collaboration in exploring market opportunities in the United States on 2 March at BGMEA Complex in Dhaka.
They also talked about topics relevant to Bangladesh’s apparel business, focusing on increasing clothing exports to the US market.
Sourcing at Magic is the most comprehensive fashion marketplace in the US featuring clothing, accessories, and shoes in addition to global sourcing capabilities. The goal is to connect companies, brands, and sourcing experts with a well-established network of domestic and foreign manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers.
Both sides have also discussed the participation of Bangladeshi exporters in Sourcing at Magic’s next clothing exhibition in Las Vegas in August 2024.
They briefed Hassan about the exhibition’s features and strategic ways to showcase the strength of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector to potential US buyers, especially those who do not source from Bangladesh.
Promoting Bangladesh as a secure and sustainable sourcing location for US buyers was emphasised by Faruque Hassan. Both parties committed to working together to make it easier for BGMEA member factories to participate in the show to forge strong commercial ties with prospective customers in the US market.
