
Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body has highlighted on the need for more collaboration between the academia and the apparel industry so as to support the further development of the sector, by identifying areas of improvement and capacity building, while also provide the know-how and skills needed to address challenges that would present in future.
Media reports maintained this adding the President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Faruque Hassan, underscored the same during a recent meeting with Gavin Bridge, a professor at Durham University and Peter Lund-Thomsen, a professor at Copenhagen Business School, in Dhaka.
During the meeting, the professors, reportedly, apprised Faruque about the collaboration between BRAC University, Copenhagen Business School and Durham University to conduct research on climate change especially in the area of climate action even if the initiative is funded by the Danida Fellowship Centre, while also seeking active collaboration with apex garment makers’ body to create academic reference documentation of the Bangladesh apparel industry.
