The leaders of the Bangladesh garment makers’ body of BGMEA recently discussed with British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson about ways to increase apparel export to the UK.
As per reports, the discussion took place when the British envoy called on BGMEA President Faruque Hassan even as both are said to have discussed various trade related issues, including the existing scenario in the UK market, challenges of the industry and the areas where the sector is focusing on to remain competitive.
During the meeting, Faruque Hassan reportedly expressed hopes of continued support of the British Government to Bangladesh apparel industry even as he discussed with the British High Commissioner on cooperation between both the countries pertaining to Bangladesh’s LDC graduation, possible changes in the tariff regime and how to retain Bangladesh’s export competitiveness in the post-graduation LDC era in the global arena.
