The apex garment makers body in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has once again called for rescheduling their loans for another one year, while the BGMEA President has written in this regard to the Bangladesh Bank Governor even if the repayment time was scheduled to start this month after the end of the 1.5-year moratorium.
Media reports maintained this while adding that BGMEA President Faruque Hassan wrote a letter in this direction to the Governor of Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir — BGMEA Acting President SM Mannan Kochi handed over the letter to Governor during a courtesy meeting at the latter’s office recently — urging Bangladesh Bank not to classify their bank loans as many of BGMEA members have been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Reports further added that during the BGMEA Acting President’s meeting with the Bangladesh Bank Governor, was present the trade body’s Vice-Presidents Syed Nazrul Islam, Shahidullah Azim, Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Md. Nasir Uddin and Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, apart from BGMEA Directors Asif Ashraf, Md. Khosru Chowdhury, Rajiv Chowdhury and Mohammed Meraj-E-Mostafa (Kaisar).
Also present was ex-BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman at the meeting, claimed the reports.
