The signing of the land lease agreement between the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and the Yabang Group of China – which is investing around US $ 300 million to establish textile and chemical industries in Bangladesh – is set to take place today.
According to media reports, the signing function to be presided over by Executive Chairman of BEZA, Paban Chowdhury will be attended by Bangladesh Ambassador to China (as the guest of honour) via videoconferencing and Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office, as the Chief Guest.
It may be mentioned here that according to media reports, Yabang Investment would set up industrial units on around 100 acres at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar (BSMSN).
Reports also claimed that Yabang Group will initially invest over US $ 300 million and would subsequently increase the investment.
The BSMSN is a flagship project of BEZA and is considered a sought-after destination for investment by overseas entities.
We are continuing our endeavour to attract and facilitate investment-defying challenges like COVID-19 pandemic, reportedly maintained the BEZA Executive Chairman speaking to the media earlier.
