Better Work Vietnam has released an educational video for the readymade garment (RMG) factory workers of Vietnam to make them understand the connection between health and diet, in support from Levi Strauss Foundation.
The video titled “The 24-Hour Food and Nutrition Journey” captures a day in the life of Hoa, an RMG worker in Vietnam, and showcases her choice of food throughout a hectic working day. The video provides simple and practical eating tips which the RMG workers can follow to lead a healthy and productive lifestyle, both at home and at work.
Although currently the video is available in Vietnamese and English only, Better Work is also working on the video to translate it into Khmer, so that the Cambodian RMG workers can reap the benefits as well. Better Work Vietnam is circulating the video as a teaching tool to enable factories promote good nutrition and healthy eating among RMG workers. “This video captures the spirit of the Worker Well-being Initiative by addressing a worker need in a creative way. The video along with other Better Work interventions provide workers with tools to make healthy lifestyle choices. At the same time, factories are likely to see more energetic and productive workers,” explains Stan Wong, Senior Manager, Levi Strauss Foundation.

Local teams of Better Work have been working with Levi Strauss Foundation (LSF) in various countries to respond to local priority well-being issues such as nutrition, using funding from LSF. The Better Work programme is an initiative of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and International Finance Corporation (IFC), which aims to improve the lives of RMG workers by striving to create secure, safe, clean, and equitable working environments. The program expects to improve the lives of at least three million workers by 2017.
