To facilitate payment of garment workers’ salary, allowances, Eid bonus and export-import activities, banks in the garment making hubs of Bangladesh will remain open on 8 and 9 July.
The country’s central bank, Bangladesh Bank, reportedly, issued a directive to this end recently.
The central bank has asked bank branches in the industrial areas in Gazipur, Savar, Dhaka, Tongi, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chittagong ensuring sufficient security.
Reportedly, the central bank has issued the circular in this regard and sent it to the top executives of the related banks to take necessary action.
