
Bangladesh’s second largest sea port, Mongla Port, is all set for an upgrade after the Mongla Port Authority (MPA) signed an agreement to this end with an Indian entity.
According to reports MPS inked an agreement with Egis India recently at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in capital Dhaka, styled ‘Upgradation of Mongla port’, as part of which, the Egis India Consulting Engineers Private Limited has been appointed as consultant for the capacity building project worth Taka 6,014 crore.
Reports further added the upgradation work include constructing handling and delivery yards, a container terminal, a residential complex and community facilities, multi-storey car lots, marine workshop, service jetty, and more even as MPA will reportedly procure around eight vessels to support the port operations, such as loading and unloading goods from larger ships.
