Continuing with its good run, Bangladesh’s exports set yet another record in February registering 34.54 per cent year-on-year growth to reach US $ 4.29 billion (earnings were the highest in the same month of the past 10 years) even as the export earnings in the July-February period of the current financial year 2021-22 increased by 30.46 per cent to US $ 33.84 billion from that of US $ 25.86 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Media reports maintained this even as it highlighted the role played by the apparel sector in this direction.
Data from the Export Promotion Bureau showed export earnings from apparels in the eight months of FY22 (between July and February) fetched US $ 27.49 billion, 30.73 per cent higher than the earnings of US $ 21.03 billion in FY21.
“…we are hopeful that the buoyancy in garment exports will continue as we have already booked an increased volume of work orders from international retailers and brands,” reportedly, maintained BGMEA President Faruque Hassan speaking to the media, adding, “Export earnings growth is very positive and we have taken some initiatives to maintain the trend.”
