
In a new development that is expected to effectively deal with the current situation faced by Bangladesh with context to the availability of liquefied natural gas (LNG), it has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding, valid for 15 years, with the aim to import 1.8 million metric tonnes (MMT) of LNG from Qatar every year.
This is as per reports, which underlined the new deal (Sale and Purchase Agreement) between QatarEnergy Trading, LNG trading arm of QatarEnergy and Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) was signed at QatarEnergy headquarters in Doha even if as per the new agreement, starting 2026, Bangladesh will get additional 1.8 MMT of LNG per year.
Chairman of Petrobangla Zanendra Nath Sarker and the Executive vice president of QatarEnergy Abdulla Ahmad Al-Hussaini signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
