Bangladesh must work on labour rights situation to get GSP back, says US Envoy

Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, US Ambassador in Dhaka, has said that Bangladesh must improve its labour rights situation to get back Generalized System of Preference in US Markets. “GSP is an important issue. I consider the issue very important. Bangladesh has become able to improve working environment in factories. But the country yet to do much in labour rights issues. If you want to get back GSP, you have to do more in this issue,” Bernicat maintains.

The Envoy further averred, “Before coming to Bangladesh, I interviewed some businessmen who are doing business in this country. They praised Bangladesh very much and they have been investing in this country. They have been bringing new technologies and also interested to invest more.”
