
Bangladesh, which is a major name in the realm of denim manufacturing and exports, continued to maintain its dominance throughout the first half (January-June) of 2022 as the top denim apparel exporter to the United States, shipping goods worth US $ 445.5 million, which is 57.06 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) increase from the same period of 2021.
Media reports maintained this citing data from the Commerce Department’s Office of Textiles and Apparel, OTEXA, as per which in the same period last year, Bangladesh exported denim apparels worth US $ 283.64 million.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, the Deputy Managing Director of Denim Expert Limited and Director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Mohiuddin Rubel, reportedly, maintained denim was one of the most prominent product categories within Bangladesh’s RMG sector while adding denim making in Bangladesh has developed significantly through quality products, competitive price, resilience and environment-friendly manufacturing process in the past decade, which made the country the top denim import source for the USA.
