Bangladesh, which is desperately looking for cheap petroleum products following prices going through the roof on account of the continuing Russia-Ukraine war, is now all set to get liquefied natural gas (LNG) from oil-rich Qatar as part of a long-term deal after both the countries are expected to sign a deal to this end.
This is as per media reports, which cited an unnamed Government official in this regard, while adding the deal is expected to be signed today.
The official concerned also reportedly claimed Bangladesh’s state-owned Petrobangla and QatarEnergy will sign the long-term LNG supply deal even as an official of Petrobangla reportedly claimed under the 15-year agreement that Bangladesh would receive 2 million tonnes of LNG from the gulf country annually.
It may be mentioned here that Qatar is the top LNG exporter globally and as per reports a negotiation of signing a new contract over the larger supply of energy from Qatar to Bangladesh has been underway for the past several months.
