
Expressing their concern over the recent gas price hike for the industries in Bangladesh, apparel manufacturers have called upon Government to adopt measures including cutting off illegal connections while also requesting it to lift the import tariff on gas.
As per reports the President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Faruque Hassan while urging all the industry stakeholders to make coordinated efforts to deal with the current situation and has asked authorities concerned to reduce system loss in gas transmission, terminate illegal connections, ensure uninterrupted gas and electricity supply and regulate gas price.
Faruque Hassan further mentioned long-term contracts should be given importance in LNG imports while adding in the current context; the industry cannot bear the burden of additional costs.
