With the festival of Eid-ul-Azha set to be celebrated soon, the Bangladesh Government has decided to fix the price of rawhides of animals that will be sacrificed during the upcoming festival.
Reports claimed this citing the sources while adding the Commerce Ministry with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in the chair will convene a meeting on 25th June to decide on the same even if the meeting is likely to consider fixing fair rawhide prices for every Eid-ul-Azha to the satisfaction of rawhide traders and owners of sacrificial animals.
It may be mentioned here, prices of rawhides have been a bone of contention between the stakeholders concerned on several occasions. In 2022, nearly one crore animals were sacrificed during Eid-ul-Azha even if in Dhaka division alone, more than 24.91 lakh animals were sacrificed.
Further, 19.98 lakh animals were reportedly slaughtered in Rajshahi division, followed by 11.38 lakh in Rangpur, 9.26 lakh in Khulna, 4.98 in Barishal, 3.92 in Sylhet, and 3.75 lakh in Mymensingh.
