
AHM Mustafa Kamal, who is the Finance Minister of Bangladesh, has urged the European Union (EU) to continue the existing preferential trade facilities to Bangladesh beyond the LDC graduation period even as he made this request to the newly-appointed EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley who called upon the Finance Minister recently.
Media reports underlined this adding AHM Mustafa Kamal mentioned EU is the largest export destination of Bangladesh, which has turned into a trusted development partner of the country (Bangladesh) while expressing hopes the EU-Bangladesh relations would be further strengthened in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Charles Whiteley on his part, recalling his assignment in Bangladesh from EU in various capacities from 2005 to 2009, maintained the support of EU to Bangladesh would continue in the days to come even as he lauded highly the economic development of Bangladesh.
