
Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi while underlining that Bangladesh was now the second largest exporter of readymade garments in the world even as, like other countries in the world, Bangladesh too has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, but under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Government has been implementing extensive activities to overcome the same, maintained Bangladesh is grateful to European Union (EU), as it has been providing trade facilities to Bangladesh for a long time while also expressing hope that EU would continue to provide trade facilities to Bangladesh even after the LDC graduation.
As per reports, Tipu Munshi maintained the same while exchanging views recently with the outgoing EU Ambassador Rensje Teerinkat in Dhaka.
… I hope the EU will continue to provide trade facilities to Bangladesh even after LDC graduation in 2026, reportedly, stated the Bangladesh Commerce Minister while underlining that EU is a major export market for Bangladesh garment industry even as he added that the country (Bangladesh) was making efforts to get trade benefits for the next 12 years after LDC graduation in the World Trade Organization and further went to express hope the EU will co-operate Bangladesh to achieve this aim.
Meanwhile, the outgoing EU Ambassador while expressing satisfaction over her four years of service in Bangladesh and underlining that Bangladesh is an excellent and promising country stated that EU will continue to stand by Bangladesh in the days to come even as she maintained, “Bangladesh is an important trading partner of the European Union…The EU attaches great importance to Bangladesh in the field of trade…”
Rensje Teerinkat further added trade facilities of the European Union given to Bangladesh will continue.
