Leaders in the country’s readymade garments (RMG) and textile sector are urging the new Government for continued policy support, tax relief, and solutions to customs challenges, while also addressing the ongoing dollar crisis.
Industry leaders have emphasised the need for uninterrupted power supply, resolution of port and road obstacles, reduction in business costs, and the adoption of trade-friendly fiscal policies.
Mohammad Hatem, Executive President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), conveyed congratulations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and expressed the industry’s expectation of consistent support for its development even as he highlighted the industry’s challenges, including gas crisis and issues with tax and customs procedures, emphasising the desire for a hassle-free business environment in the country.
The President of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Mohammad Ali Khokon, expressed optimism that the new Government would be business-friendly and implement positive strategies to address challenges such as the dollar crisis and power shortages.
Khokon emphasised the industry’s aspiration to contribute significantly to the country’s exports and economic growth, underscoring the importance of rule of law and timely development.
