Bangladesh’s apex accessories makers’ body, the Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA), while protesting strongly the latest gas price hike has called upon the Government to continue charge the existing rates.
In a statement issued in this direction, BGAPMEA, which is a platform of around 2,000 small and medium accessories makers, has maintained the hike in gas price would squeeze competitiveness of the industry, which is already faced with multiple challenges while adding such an ‘unusual’ hike would make the current situation even more complex or the accessory makers.
The BGAPMEA further reportedly underlined all export-oriented industries depend majorly on their sector for accessories and packaging materials and has thus called upon the Government to review the decision and reinstate the previous rate.
