
Apparel imports by EU have strongly consolidated in the month of December, 2016 and the full year import data is reflecting a rebound in the clothing demand from the EU buyers after the Euro has stopped falling from a year earlier.
The European Union, even after the BREXIT, registered rise in its value-wise global apparel imports during the review period and were up by 0.22 per cent to € 80954.29 million as compared to € 80773.50 million in the corresponding period last year.

During 2016, the combine import of woven and knitted apparels increased by 5.53 per cent quantity-wise to 4672.33 million kg versus 4427.57 million kg in 2015.
Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam registered positive hikes both in value-wise and volume-wise apparel export to the EU whereas, India and China recorded drop in their value-wise apparel exports to the EU in 2016.
