
In the first month of 2017, the exports of cotton, wool, MMF, Silk and Veg made apparels from India to the US registered surge if compared to the same month in 2016.
India, in aforementioned types of apparels, witnessed the positive trend as volume-wise the exports were up by 8.63 per cent to 94.16 million square metres versus 86.67 million square metres in the corresponding period last year. On the other hand, value terms rose by 4.31 per cent to US $ 328.43 million during the review period as compared to US $ 314.86 million in previous year’s same month.

China too gained in its apparel exports to the US in the month of January in both volumes and values terms. Values of export saw surge of 4.63 per cent to US $ 2527.51 million as compared to US $ 2415.61 million in January 2016.
In January, volumes also registered a rise of notable 13.26 per cent to achieve 1068.33 million square metres versus 943.29 million square metres during the same period in 2016.
