One of the Europe’s largest workwear manufacturers, Alsico Group, has announced to source 90 per cent of its fabric from UK-based workwear fabric giant Carrington. Alsico already works with Carrington, purchasing 2.5 million metres of personal protective equipment (PPE) fabrics. However, this new contract will be meant for the supply of polyester cotton fabrics suitable for regular high temperature and drying suitable for industrial laundries.
Under the deal, Carrington will supply two million metres of fabric in 2017 to Alsico which may potentially reach to four million during 2018, in a contract worth £ 12 million over the first two years.
According to Alsico, the decision to move textile sourcing to its Lancashire neighbour was based on Carrington’s ability to supply products ideally suited to the industrial laundry (workwear rental) sector which has always been the Alsico’s largest market.

David Toon, Chief Executive of Alsico, commented, “This is really great news for manufacturing in Lancashire – with two companies coming together to create high quality products and jobs in the UK,” adding, “This was not an overnight decision, we have been impressed by the strength of the business and the strategic plans of their (Carrington) senior management team.”
It’s worth mentioning here that the Alsico contract will now also see Carrington increase its workforce by 15 per cent as a part of the company’s already progressive expansion plans.
Neil Davey, Sales Director, Carrington, stated, “Our collaboration with Alsico is a natural partnership, not just because of our proximity but also due to the global ambitions and scale of both companies.”
