The Japanese company YKK, collaborated with Patagonia and ERCA SPA to work on the sustainable choice of chemical agent REVECOL. The implementation of this invention is now being processed in YKK’s dyeing operations in the Vietnam production unit.
Its main function is narrowed down to reducing the application of dyeing auxiliaries by 20 per cent to 30 per cent which will lower the chemical use in YKK’s operation methods.
REVECOL is a revolutionary creation with the aim of device circularity, sustainability and efficiency.
Mike Maekawa, Sales and Business Development Manager of YKK Vietnam, remarked on the thrill of the 3-way collaboration for developing REVECOL symbolising the possibility of upcycling on a huge scale and hoping for its expansion across the textile industry.
Moreover, REVECOL LV-TS goes through a 72 per cent lower carbon footprint as compared to other chemical auxiliaries that ERCA produces.
Head of ERCA Textile Specialties Business Unit, Fabio Locatelli voiced the certainty of REVCOL creating a difference and turning the heads of industry leaders towards sustainable practices in the supply chain.
The main goal of this union between Patagonia, ERCA and YKK is to employ non-extractive chemistry in the supply chain.
Matt Swartz of Patagonia commented on the fruitful union and expressed his hope for REVECOL to revolutionise the industry through its wide use.
