Following a blast in hot air-drying process machinery in Surat’s Sachin, a worker, age 22, was killed and two others were hurt. It is still unknown what exactly caused the tragedy at the Lavkush Yarn facility at the Hojiwala Industrial Estate.
The police have opened an investigation into an accidental death case. Pappu Yadav, a resident of Sachin and a native of Uttar Pradesh, was injured severely in the event and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Anand Garasiya, a 17-year-old labourer from Madhya Pradesh, and Birendra Singh, a 25-year-old worker from Uttar Pradesh, are receiving medical attention for their wounds. According to the police, they are stable.
“In what condition the blast occurred is not yet clear. Forensic Science Laboratory team was called for inspection and will submit their report soon,” said an officer in Sachin police station.
“The unit is involved in yarn making and processing. Hot air dry is a process for which they use steam and the blast occurred in the machinery for this process,” the cops added.
