The global textile solutions company, Elevate Textiles recently received an official validation from SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) for its short-term and long-term net-zero emission goals.
The confirmation came after Elevate Textiles showed its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets (GHG) to the SBTi. With the targets including Elevate’s near-term and net-zero goals, the SBTi compared these goals with its own set of established standards, and concluded that Elevate is on the right track. Further, SBTi also found Elevate’s net-zero ambitions to be exemplary and also in tune with the SBTi’s environmental initiative, which the organisation promotes.
As per their targets, Elevate aims to reduce its scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by 46.2 per cent by 2030. In addition, the company also seeks to cut down the scope 3 GHG emissions, which cover fuel and energy sector, purchased goods and services, and the processing of sold products by 46.2 per cent.
Speaking on the same, Jimmy Summers, Elevate Textiles chief sustainability officer confirmed the validation of their 2050 net-zero targets. Summers also said that they are also all-set to meet the 2030 short-term science based targets.
With Elevate Textiles securing SBTi’s approval, the company’s portfolio of brands including Cone Denim, Gütermann, and Safety Components, American & Efird (A&E), Burlington, will also incorporate these targets to further their sustainability strategies.
Following the confirmation, Elevate is now among the companies that will make practical and science-driven strides to reduce emissions, as per the current scientific recommendations.
