Despite the fact that the workers are the backbone of the industry and need industry support in these challenging times, cases are coming up where factories are not paying even workers’ wages.
Tamil Nadu Textile and Common Labour Union (TTCU) has blamed a leading spinning mill at Iyyarmadam, Vedasanthur (Vedasandur) taluk of Dindigul district for forcing the workers to work during the lockdown.
To make matters worse, the mill didn’t pay wages to workers, and when union approached the mill, a police case was filed against the union leaders.
The response of the spinning mill is awaited, so watch out for this space!
Thivya of TTCU told Apparel Resources, “21 migrant workers of Bihar were promised full support by the spinning mill but they didn’t even get their wages and faced lot of challenges to go back to their home state. When we approached the mill management, they assured to pay the workers but they didn’t. These workers face lot of problems due to the wrong practices of the mill.”
She further added that the union will continue its efforts for the well-being of workers of textile industry at every cost.
