British registered charity, Soil Association is joining the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) while confirming that it is no longer a certification unit from Textile Exchanges.
As a part of the new certification, existing clients certified by Soil Association are now expected to transfer their certification services to another certification body until 12 September 2023.
After the time duration is over, the certificates issued by Soil Association will be marked withdrawn.
Soil Association spokesperson, stated, “Both GOTS and Textile Exchange deliver significant benefits for nature and the environment through the organic farming practices they deliver with GOTS ensuring added social and ecological benefits. Soil Association was a founding member of GOTS, and we are hopeful it will be recognised as due diligence under the new supply chain regulations.”
